Haiti’s new prime minister took office

In Haiti, the new prime minister, Ariel Henri, took office.

The politician was appointed prime minister two days before the death of the country’s president, Jovenel Moise.

Henri took over as prime minister after the resignation of interim head of government Claude Joseph.

“I am a democrat, a person who can speak to all strata, so I accept this position with the greatest humility,” Henri said in his first address to the nation with a call for dialogue.

The politician also promised to achieve the disclosure of the murder of Moise, the identification and trial of those responsible.

Following the decision of President Moise, Joseph announced the day before that he would hand over the post to Henri for the good of the country.

– Assassination attempt on Moiz

Haitian President Jovenel Moise was killed in a private residence on the night of 7 July.

The President was fatally wounded by a firearm.

Moise, 53, became President of Haiti in 2017.

In February of this year, he told reporters about “the existence of a threat to life.”

Later, the Haitian police reported the arrest of 26 Colombian citizens and two US citizens on suspicion of involvement in the crime.

Public suspicions in Haiti of US involvement in the murder intensified after it became known that the mercenaries who killed Moise shouted “Operation DEA” (US Drug Enforcement Administration).
