An earthquake of magnitude 7.2 on the Richter scale hit the coast of Haiti this Saturday.
The United States Institute for Geological Studies (USGS) said a magnitude 7.2 earthquake occurred 12 km northeast of the city of Saint-Jean-du-Sud in Haiti.
He added that the earthquake was felt in the capital, Port-au-Prince, causing a state of panic among the citizens.
According to the American Institute, the earthquake occurred at a depth of 10 km below the earth’s surface, warning of a tsunami that would occur as a result of the earthquake.
