Guru Nanak Jayanti today, PM Modi tweeted congratulations
Today i.e. on Tuesday, Kartik Purnima, the birth anniversary of the first Sikh Guru Sri Guru Nanak Dev, is being celebrated. It is also known as Prakash Parv or Guru Parv. On this occasion, Prime Minister Modi has congratulated by tweeting. He tweeted in Punjabi language and shared the video of Sri Guru Nanak Dev, writing, “May his teachings guide us in our endeavor to build a just and compassionate society.”

Earlier on Monday, on the eve of Guru Nanak Jayanti, PM Modi participated in a function organized at the residence of National Minorities Commission Chairman Iqbal Singh Lalpura in Delhi. On this occasion, PM Modi bowed his head and prayed to Guru Dev.
Every year on the full moon date of Shukla Paksha in the month of Kartik, the birth anniversary of the first Guru of Sith religion, Guru Nanak Dev, is celebrated. Guru Nanak Ji was the founder of Sikhism. People of the Sikh community living in the country and all over the world celebrate Guru Parva with great pomp and show. It is said that the first Guru of Sikhism, Guru Nanak Dev, was born on this day. On this day people perform bhajan-kirtan and chant Vahe Guru. In some areas, Prabhat Pheri is taken out with drums and musical instruments. This year Guru Nanak Jayanti is being celebrated on 08 November.
