Group captain Varun singh death: Group captain Varun Singh also died, was injured in the Tamil Nadu helicopter crash


  • Helicopter crash happened in Nilgiris, Tamil Nadu on 8th December
  • 14 people including CSD Bipin Rawat and his wife were on board the helicopter
  • 13 people had died on the same day, Varun Singh alone was undergoing treatment

Air Force Group Captain Varun Singh (Captain Varun Singh Health News), the only survivor of the helicopter crash near Coonoor in Tamil Nadu, has also passed away. He breathed his last on Wednesday morning. His condition started deteriorating further on Tuesday itself. Varun Singh was a resident of Deoria in Uttar Pradesh.

Chief of Defense Staff (CDS) General Bipin Rawat, his wife and 11 other army personnel lost their lives in the helicopter crash in the Nilgiris. Varun Singh was the only survivor, but his condition was also critical. He was being treated at the Military Hospital in Bangalore.

Treatment was going on in Bangalore Command Hospital
The Group Captain was admitted to a hospital in Wellington with serious burns. Last Thursday, Group Captain Singh was transferred from Wellington in Tamil Nadu to Command Hospital in Bengaluru.

The official Twitter handle of Indian Air Force tweeted, ‘Indian Air Force is deeply saddened to inform about the demise of Brave Group Captain Varun Singh. He was seriously injured in a helicopter crash on 8 December 2021. He died this morning. The Indian Air Force expresses its deepest condolences and stands with the bereaved family.

PM Narendra Modi also expressed grief
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also condoled the news of the death of Group Captain Varun Singh. The PM tweeted, ‘Group Captain Varun Singh served the nation with pride, valor. I am deeply hurt by his death. His rich service to the nation will never be forgotten. Condolences to his family and friends. om Shanti.’
