In Khandwala area of Amritsar, Punjab, there was a grenade attack on the temple by Thakur late on Friday night, causing panic in the area. In the CCTV footage of the incident, it was seen that two bike riders threw grenade at the temple at midnight, damaging the wall. However, there were no casualties in the attack, and the priests and their family living on the upper floor of the temple were not harmed.
The attack took place around 12 pm. In CCTV footage, two youths are seen on a motorcycle, stopping near the temple and throwing grenades. The explosion was so powerful that even the glass of the surrounding buildings broke. Amritsar Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said that he received information about the incident from the temple priest at 2 pm and the police immediately reached the spot and started investigation.
Pakistan is expected to be behind the attack. Police Commissioner Gurpreet Bhullar said, “Pakistan tries to spread instability in Punjab from time to time. We are investigating the case seriously and the accused will be arrested soon. ”

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann also reacted strongly to the incident. He said, “Some mischievous elements are trying to disturb the peace of Punjab. The police is completely cautious and we have equipped it with the latest technology. As far as law and order is concerned, Punjab is safe. ” On Pakistan’s possible relationship, he said, “They regularly send drones, so they do such acts. Why would they like peace in Punjab? ”
This is the 12th attack in Punjab in the last four months, but this is the first incident to target the religious site. Earlier police establishments were attacked. The police is now trying to find out the identity and intention of the attackers based on CCTV footage and other clues.
