A long time ago, the Chinese emperors built this long wall to protect China from foreign enemies. This Great Wall of China is very famous in the world. However, the wall has been largely destroyed over time. In the meantime, these two men have caused new damage to the wall.
On the 24th of August, the local administration noticed the damage to the Great Wall of China in the Yuyu area of Shaanxi. The police arrested the two suspects. An excavator used for digging was found from them. Of the two arrested, one is a 38-year-old man, the other is a fifty-five-year-old woman.
The police wanted to know from them why they went to do this crime. In response, they said that they are construction workers. The workplace is close to the wall. But they have to travel a lot to get there. They were making roads by digging holes in the walls to reduce the distance from the workplace. Chinese authorities say the damage to the wall is difficult to repair.

This great wall covers an area of about 13,000 miles (20,000 km). The part of the wall where the road is cut was built during the Ming Dynasty. The construction of that part lasted for about 300 years – from 1368 to 1644. The wall was first constructed in the 220th century BC. In 1987, UNESCO recognized the wall as a World Heritage Site.
