Ratan Tata Died: Ratan Tata, who was a source of inspiration for crores of Indians, is no more. 86 year old Ratan Tata breathed his last on 9 October 2024 at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai. He was ill for the last few days. After his demise, people from India and abroad including PM Narendra Modi, President Murmu, big politicians, big businessmen, film and sports personalities have expressed grief. Ratan Tata, who took Tata Group to new heights, did business from salt to cars, from software to ships. There are many interesting incidents related to his life, which we have mentioned here.
The country’s two highest civilian awards
Ratan Tata has been awarded India’s two highest civilian awards, Padma Vibhushan (2008) and Padma Bhushan (2000) for his contribution to nation building.
Grandmother had raised Ratan Tata
Ratan Tata was born on 28 December 1937 in Mumbai. His father’s name was Naval Tata and mother’s name was Suni Ratan Tata. Jamsetji Tata, the founder of Tata Group, was the great grandfather of Ratan Tata. When Ratan Tata was 10 years old, his parents separated in 1948 due to some reason. At that time, he was brought up by his grandmother Nawazbai Tata, wife of Ratanji Tata.
Ratan Tata’s career
Ratan Tata studied at Cathedral and John Connon School, Mumbai and Bishop Cotton School, Shimla. Then he went to Harvard Business School to complete his studies. He obtained the degree of Architecture and Structural Engineering from Cornell University in 1959. After coming to India, he worked in IBM.

But due to the India-China war of 1962, the girl did not come to India. Due to this their relationship could not progress further. Ratan Tata himself had mentioned this in a program.

It is often said about him that he fell in love not once but four times. But all four times his love remained unfulfilled and he remained single throughout his life. He was not married. Ratan Tata’s name was also linked with actress Simi Grewal, which was revealed by the actress herself. Simi further claimed that both wanted to get married which was not possible due to some reason.
Took command of Tata Group
Ratan Tata took command of Tata Group in the year 1991. In 1996, he founded Tata Tele-Services and publicly listed Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) in 2004, which proved to be an important milestone for the company. There is also a big company like Tata Motors in the group. This group is in the business ranging from salt and tea to IT and auto.
