Globo is looking for an actor who has never worked on television and who comes from the Northeast region to be the male protagonist of “No Rancho Fundo”, the next six o’clock soap opera. The premiere is scheduled for April 2024, instead of the remake of “Elas por Elas”.
The station’s producers are analyzing material from theater actors from Paraíba, Bahia, Sergipe and Pernambuco. Names registered in Globo’s talent pool are also being called upon to show their work.
Director Allan Fiterman leads the work. The idea is to repeat in “No Rancho Fundo” what happened in “Mar do Sertão” (2022), also written by author Mário Teixeira and directed by Fiterman.
On that occasion, the plot brought the actress from Paraíba Isadora Cruz to stardom, who until then had only played a very small role on Globo in 2016, in the soap opera “Haja Coração”.
As the young lady Candoca, Isadora fell into the public’s favor, and landed a second job soon after, as the young lady in “Guerreiros do Sol”, in recordings for Globoplay, which debuts in 2025 on streaming.
“No Rancho Fundo” will be a romantic comedy set in the backlands of Paraíba, in the Cariri region. Family relationships, social contrasts, mining, precious stone smuggling, betrayal, enrichment and romantic disappointments are some of the topics that will be covered.
The female protagonist of the story will be actress Bella Campos, who is already booked for the serial. Initially, “Elas por Elas” would be succeeded by “O País de Alice”, written by Lícia Manzo. But Globo canceled production.
