Garibashvili: Georgian Dream will not return to Michel agreement

The likelihood of the return of the ruling party of Georgia to the April 19 agreement is out of the question. The signing of the document by the United National Movement (UNM) is a farce and a lie. This was stated on Thursday by the Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili, reports “Georgia Online”.

“This is farce and falsehood. Their signing would have a price when we all together, with the direct mediation of our great friends – Charles Michel, the US Ambassador – completed the work on this document. Then we all signed up taking into account all the factors that existed at that particular moment. They insulted the entire international community, our partners, ”Garibashvili said.

The head of government added that they waited 100 days at the Georgian Dream.

“Despite the appeals and requests of European and American friends, they (UNM) ignored our partners and did not sign the document. This is not a kindergarten, it is politics and, first of all, the interests of the country, state and population. Therefore, we waited and then canceled, withdrew from this agreement, because the agreement would be legitimate only if both parties signed it, ”the Georgian prime minister emphasized.

Earlier it was reported that the leading opposition party of Georgia “United National Movement” signed an agreement prepared by the President of the European Council Charles Michel. A five-point agreement entitled “Georgia’s Advancement Path” was prepared to reduce political tensions in the country.

The chairman of the ruling Georgian Dream – Democratic Georgia party, Irakli Kobakhidze, said on July 28 that his party had fulfilled all the points of the agreement, while the leading opposition party United National Movement and 4 other political parties of the country did not sign the document.

“However, today, after 100 days, it is obvious that it (the agreement) has fulfilled its mission and is now exhausted,” Kobakhidze said, thanking Michel for supporting his country.

Thus, the ruling party withdrew from the agreement.
