Garibashvili: Caucasus has lost 40% of glaciers

Over the past twenty years, the Caucasus has lost 40% of glaciers, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili said at the UN Climate Conference in Glasgow.

The Prime Minister called on heads of government, representatives from various industries, academia, technical experts and stakeholders around the world to join forces to confront the climate crisis.

The head of the Georgian government stressed that in order to prevent a global catastrophe, efforts are needed to achieve the long-term temperature targets set in the Paris Agreement.

According to the prime minister, the Georgian authorities intend to focus on the diversification of renewable energy sources, increasing the share of wind and solar energy in the overall energy market.
