Why update documents in Aadhaar?
By updating the documents related to identity and address recorded in the Aadhaar database, many important tasks of the cardholder become easier. By updating documents, better services are available through Aadhaar and identity verification is also done accurately. This is why adding the latest supporting documents related to identity and address in Aadhaar is beneficial for the cardholder.
To further strengthen an important document like Aadhaar, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has been repeatedly advising cardholders for the last few years to update the document. UIDAI has extended the deadline for updating documents in September this year to June 14, 2025.
People for whom it has been 10 years since the Aadhaar number was issued can update the document. Although it is not necessary for Aadhaar card holders to update the information in their Aadhaar, UIDAI advises people to keep their information correct and updated, so that they do not face any trouble in availing government schemes and services. With this document updation, the accuracy of the identity and address information recorded in the Aadhaar database is maintained and in such a situation it becomes easier to avail services using the Aadhaar card. Keep in mind that the address and ID proof uploaded during free document updation should match the information already entered in the Aadhaar database.
