The French National Assembly adopted, Thursday, in new reading, the bill “reinforcing the respect for the principles of the Republic and the fight against separatism”, we learned from the official website of the institution.
The new text will be submitted to the Senate for approval on July 21, before the final vote on the 22 of the same month.
The French National Assembly voted for the same bill at first reading last February, after intense debate.
The bill includes several provisions relating to the neutrality of the public service, the wearing of religious symbols and the organization and financing of religious activities.
Some clauses directly target Muslim worship by imposing restrictions, in particular on mosques and the wearing of the Islamic veil in public places.
