Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian believes that the most important political solution to the conflict in Afghanistan is the formation of an inclusive government.
Abdollahiyan stated this in Tehran during a joint press conference with Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mahmoud Qureshi.
Qureshi arrived in Tehran to attend a meeting of foreign ministers of Afghanistan’s neighboring states.
Abdollahiyan stressed that Iran has held talks with the Taliban government in Afghanistan on security issues.
“We continue contacts with all parties to the conflict in Afghanistan. We are closely following the development of events in Afghanistan. The most important political solution to the conflict in Afghanistan is the formation of a government with broad participation of all ethnic groups, ”he said.
Abdollahiyan noted that Tehran will continue cooperation with Afghanistan in the economic and trade spheres at all levels. According to him, it is important for Iran that the Afghan authorities fulfill their obligations in matters of peace, stability and security.
The meeting of the foreign ministers of the six countries – Afghanistan’s neighbors – Uzbekistan, Pakistan, Turkmenistan and Tajikistan will take place in Tehran on Wednesday. The meeting will also be attended by the heads of the Russian and Chinese foreign ministries.
