Petrol-diesel prices rose for the 9th consecutive day on Wednesday, for the first time in the country, petrol prices reached Rs 100 per liter. Petrol is being sold today at Sriganganagar in Rajasthan at Rs 100.07 per liter.
Today, the price of petrol has increased from 25 to 26 paise, while the price of diesel has increased from 23 to 25 paise. Petrol prices in Delhi and Mumbai reached an all-time high.
The price of petrol and diesel was increased by 25 paise in Delhi today. With this, the price of petrol in the capital reached Rs 89.54 per liter. On the other hand, diesel prices also increased to Rs 79.95 per liter.
Petrol in Mumbai has reached Rs 96 per liter while diesel is getting Rs 86.98 per liter. Petrol prices in Kolkata and Chennai are Rs 90.78 and Rs 91.68 per liter respectively while diesel is getting Rs 83.54 and 85.01 per liter.
Petrol became costlier by 26 paise in Madhya Pradesh’s financial capital Indore. The price of petrol here is Rs 97.55 per liter.
The new year has not been good for petroleum fuels. In January and February, petrol has become expensive for 21 days so far, but it has become costlier by Rs 05.73 in these days. Along with petrol, the price of diesel is also on the way to record. Diesel has become costlier by Rs 06.08 per liter during this period.
Meanwhile, the government of Meghalaya on Tuesday further reduced the Value Added Tax (VAT) on petrol and diesel due to which the prices of these petroleum fuels in the state have come down by more than Rs 5 per liter. Earlier, the Assam government has also taken such a step and provided relief to the people.
