Algeria lists 29 fires still active across 13 localities, according to information revealed at midday on Saturday by the local civil protection.
Seven fires are located in Tizi Ouzou, 5 in Béjaïa, 4 in Jijel and 4 in El Tarf.
Civil protection says it has extinguished 40 fires in the last 24 hours, including a dozen in Tizi Ouzou.
“To stop these fires, enormous material and human capacities were mobilized, including 7,500 civil protection agents, 490 trucks, 3 civil protection helicopters and 5 army helicopters” continues the institution.
On its social networks, the French civil security indicates having carried out more than 200 water drops with the two Canadairs mobilized by Paris in the Kabyle region, mainly in Tizi Ouzou and Béjaïa.
The military authorities, headed by General Changriha, paid tribute on Saturday to the 28 soldiers killed this week while they were deployed to bring aid to the affected populations in Kabylia.
According to a still provisional assessment, at least 71 people have died.
In a message to the Algerian Nation, broadcast Thursday evening on national television, President Abdelmadjid Tebboune indicated that 22 individuals were arrested, including 11 in Tizi Ouzou, suspected of having started fires.
