MADRID, Oct. 4 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, admitted this Wednesday that in the general elections of July 23 he was penalized by the PSOE bringing out the “doberman” with the PP and Vox pacts in several autonomous communities, but he has stressed that he believes that telling people the truth is not “making a mistake.” Furthermore, he has assured that he does not mind a photo with the president of Vox, Santiago Abascal, at the demonstration against the amnesty that will be held in Barcelona on October 8.
“There are photos of me with Mr. Abascal greeting us in the Congress of Deputies. I publicly thank him for his votes because without Vox’s 33 seats I would not have been able to stand for the investiture and without Vox’s 33 favorable votes I would not have been able to be president of the Government,” Feijóo declared in an interview on Onda Cero, when expressly asked if a photo with Abascal at the protest next Sunday organized by the Catalan Civil Society (SCC) bothered him.
Feijóo has insisted that he “very much” appreciates Vox’s “unconditional votes” and that this party would assume “not being in the Government” if he were sworn in as president and arrived at the Moncloa Palace.
VOX, A “FANTASTIC LIFEGUARD” FOR SÁNCHEZ
As for whether he believes that the rejection of Vox is what finally saved Pedro Sánchez in the general elections of July 23, Feijóo has indicated that the objective of the PSOE leader “is not that Vox does not govern” but that “the PP” and added that Abascal’s party is a “fantastic lifesaver” for Sánchez.
“I do not accept the fact that the Popular Party is accused of the agreements with Vox, because the Popular Party tried from the beginning to comply with the proposal of the most voted list,” he emphasized, to complain that the PSOE said “no” to that PP initiative.
That said, he has stated that they made these pacts with Vox in CCAA because there were deadlines and elections could be repeated in CCAA such as Valencia or Extremadura, although he has recognized that these agreements had a negative influence on the electoral campaign. In his opinion, Sánchez knew that and advanced the general elections to “try to ensure that the need to reach an agreement with Vox and not repeat it in some autonomous communities could mobilize the left-wing electorate.”
“And we have to say that this second part achieved it,” he stated, to emphasize that the PSOE stated that “the extreme right” could come to those autonomies and “reduce the rights of LTBI groups” or “the rights of women.” “, as well as” “privatize healthcare” or “privatize education.” “In short, all this doberman that the Socialist Party has set up, which has now certainly been forgotten,” he added.
