Rahul Gandhi tweeted, ‘The country is going to face a tragedy like Champaran once again. Then the British company was brave, now the Modi-friendly company is brave. But every farmer-worker of the movement is a Satyagrahi who will continue to take his right.
Mahatma Gandhi led the Champaran Satyagraha in 1917 and is considered a historical movement in India’s freedom struggle.
The Congress, which is demanding the repeal of the three new agricultural laws, has alleged that this will adversely affect agriculture and farmers.
Farmers ordered Neel cultivation during British rule and for this, this movement was done in Champaran, Bihar to protest against the low payment.
It is noteworthy that after the sixth round of formal talks on Wednesday, the government and the protesting farmers’ organizations had agreed on the issues of increase in power prices and fines on burning stubble, But there is a deadlock over the withdrawal of controversial agricultural laws and the guarantee of minimum support price.
Thousands of farmers have been demonstrating at various borders of the national capital for more than a month despite the bitter cold.
