Fact Check: This video of policemen lathicharge on Madrasa teachers is old, video went viral with misleading claim, know the whole truth
A video of police action is becoming increasingly viral on social media. In the video, some policemen are seen hitting a young man with sticks. It can be seen further in the video that this video is of a protest demonstration where the police is trying to control the crowd sitting on protest.
By sharing this viral video on social media, it is being claimed that people of a particular community were taking out a procession in support of the Waqf Board in Patna. While the police first refused to take out the procession, later when the crowd did not agree, they lathicharged them.
After sharing the viral video on Facebook, it was written in the Hindi language caption, “Bihar- People of a particular community, who are creating nuisance by taking out a procession in support of the Waqf Board in Patna, have forgotten that this is not the government of Lalu and Tejashwi!There is a coalition government of Nitish Kumar and BJP, the police first explained it to them lovingly, and when they were not ready to accept it, the police was forced to give them a lot of hospitality!”

During Newsmobile’s investigation, we came to know that the viral video is not from recent times.
We watched the video going viral on social media but we feared it was old. So we investigated to know the truth. First we broke the video into a few keyframes and then started searching through the Google Lens tool. During the search, we first came across the website of a website called India.com on August 27, 2015. an article published A keyframe matching the viral video was found.
It is mentioned in the article received above that during the year 2015, the teachers of Madrasa in Patna, Bihar had protested against the then government for not receiving their salaries for the last two years, after which the police attacked them to disperse them. There was lathi charge.
To confirm the information from the above article, we started searching closely on Google. During search we found the viral video on the official YouTube channel of INDIA TV, which was uploaded on August 27, 2015. It is also told here that the viral video is of Madrasa teachers in Patna. Who were protesting in Patna during the year 2015.
From the facts we found during the investigation, we came to know that the viral video is not of recent times, but of the protest of Madrasa teachers during the year 2015, who were protesting against the then government for not receiving their salaries for the last two years.
