Fact Check: This video of a tiger tied on the back of an elephant is not from Bihar, know the whole truth
A video is becoming increasingly viral on social media. In the video, some people are carrying a tiger tied to the back of one hand. It can be seen in the video that the tiger is tied with a rope on the elephant’s back and a man is also sitting next to it. This video is being shared on social media and it is being claimed that this video is from Bihar.
After sharing the viral video on Facebook, it is written in the Hindi language caption that “The people of Bihar are holding the lion and making it sit on the elephant.”

Fact Check:
During Newsmobile’s investigation, we found out that the viral video is not from Bihar.
We investigated to know the truth of the video going viral on social media. First we broke the viral video into a few keyframes and then started searching through Google Lens. During the search, we first found a post made by Administrative Officer Praveen Kaswan’s official ex Handel regarding the viral video which he had uploaded on December 26, 2024.

Praveen Kaswan told in his post that this video is from the year 2011. When a tiger killed about six people, it was later killed after which its body was carried away on the back of an elephant.
Based on the information found in the above post, we started searching on Google. During the search, we found a keyframe of the viral video in an article published on IndiaToday’s website. Which was uploaded on January 28, 2011.
According to the article, the viral video is from Uttarakhand, where during the year 2011, a man-eating tiger had created terror in the area and was being hunted for three months. Forest officials in Sundarkhal area caught him while he was eating his fresh human kill. The hunters surrounded the tiger and killed it on the spot by firing bullets. Villagers in the area celebrated the death of the tiger and carried its carcass on an elephant for public display.
During the investigation, we found out from the above facts that the viral video is not from recent times but from the year 2011, and also this video is not from Bihar but from Uttarakhand.
