Fact Check: Hindu Sadhu was not tortured in Bangladesh, this video went viral with misleading communal claim
A video is becoming increasingly viral on social media. In the video, some people are seen forcibly cutting the locks and beard of a man who looks like a saint. The same video is being shared on social media and it is being claimed that the person who looks like a sadhu in the viral video is actually a sadhu, who is being converted into a Muslim by forcibly chopping off his hair and beard in Bangladesh.
The same video has been shared on Facebook and the Hindi language caption has been written that ‘Improve yourself, take care Jaichands, in Bangladesh the locks of Sadhu’s hair have been cut and they have been converted into Muslims. This was the situation in India when there were Mughal rulers, you can see all this again. All you have to do is hand over power to Muslim friendly parties of Mughal descendants and you will be able to see everything live.,

During Newsmobile’s investigation, we found that the viral video is being shared with misleading information.
We investigated to know the truth of this video which is going viral in the name of barbarity against Hindus in Bangladesh. First of all we broke the viral video into some keyframes and then started searching through the reverse image search tool on Google. During the search, we first found the viral video on a YouTube channel named SHARIF WAL. Which was uploaded on November 07, 2024 with Bengali language caption. The caption accompanying the video read that ‘Humanity is still alive’.
From the caption of the video it seems as if this video is for some noble cause. So we started searching closely for accurate information about the video. After which we got a viral video called Mahbub creation. facebook page Found on, which has been uploaded only on November 01, 2024. It can be seen in the video that some people catch a person roaming on the road and then make him sit on the ground and first cut his long hair and beard. Then after cutting his nails they bathe him. After this his clothes are changed.
We used Google Translator to understand the Bengali language caption accompanying the viral video on the Facebook page obtained above. During this we learned that it was written in the caption that ‘Alhamdulillah we have found the man’s family but now we are unable to find this man. If you see him please contact us on the number given below.’ In the muscle video, people’s help has been sought in finding the family of the said person.
With a little digging into the Facebook page, we found another video where the same person was seen helping the man in the viral video. He was speaking something in Bengali language in the video. To understand this, we took help from our teammate and Bengali expert Rehan.
During this, he told us that in the video the person is seen saying that his video is being shared in India saying that he forcibly converted a Hindu Sadhu into a Muslim. But it is a matter of shame, we never help anyone on the basis of religion. Whereas the person we helped comes from a Muslim family.”
From the facts found during the above investigation, we came to know that the viral video is being shared with a misleading claim, in the video no one is being forced to convert his religion, the person whose hair and beard is being cut in the video is Actually there is a homeless man who had not taken a bath for several days. That’s why some people caught it and cleaned it.
