The Netherlands will host the fifteenth round of the Formula 1 World Championship at the Zandvoort Circuit, which marks the resumption of the competition after the summer break. Max Verstappen wants to earn respect for his home race with a victory that will bring him closer to a fourth consecutive title, but to achieve this he will have to be faster than Lewis Hamilton, who is on a roll with two victories in the last three circuits, as well as Norris and Leclerc who are chasing him in the table. The event will take place between Friday 23 and Sunday 25 August. The first day will be dedicated to training, while on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. there will be qualifying and on Sunday at 3:00 p.m. the race will begin. The competition will be broadcast by DAZN, which has the rights to the tournament until 2026 and which this year has renewed the agreement with Movistar Plus+, so the DAZN F1 channel can be tuned in on channel 69.
Verstapen has won every race at the Zandvoort circuit since F1 returned to this venue in 2021, after 36 years. The events in this coastal town have left festive postcards with the stands dyed orange by the Dutch fans, who do not miss the opportunity to show their loyalty to the home racer, who leads the drivers’ standings. However, Verstapen does not look as unreachable as in the two previous world championships: he leads with 277 points, followed by the British Lando Norris (199 points) and the Monegasque Charles Leclerc (177). In fourth and fifth position are the Australian Oscar Piastri (167) and the Spaniard Carlos Sainz (162). Lewis Hamilton is sixth with 150 points. If he is the fastest driver on Sunday, Verstapen will equal Jim Clark as the driver with the most victories at the Dutch Grand Prix, with four celebrations each.
The circuit, located 15 kilometres west of Amsterdam, next to the North Sea beach, has 14 turns (10 right-handers and four left-handers), a length of 4.3 km and a capacity of 135,000 spectators. The dunes characteristic of the region’s topography have shaped the construction of the banking. The fastest lap was set by Verstapen in the 2021 qualifying with a time of 1:08.885. The first corner of the circuit, known as Tarzan, is attached to the start straight, which requires abrupt braking that makes it one of the clearest overtaking zones on the track and one of the two sections where drivers can use DRS. This frenzy occurs in full view of the spectators in the stands on the main straight.
Dutch GP Race Classification
Lando Norris leads the race followed by Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc in second and third position. Carlos Sainz is 5th, Checo Pérez, 6th and Fernando Alonso, remains in tenth position from the Zandvoort circuit.
Dutch Grand Prix schedule
Sunday, August 25
Weather forecasts predict wind gusts of 45 km/h for Friday’s practice sessions, which could cause discomfort for teams wanting to test new parts. Qualifying on Saturday, with less wind and lower temperatures, will be marked by rain with a probability of around 90%, while for Sunday’s race, the forecasts predict a dry circuit with low temperatures, so tyre degradation should not cause additional problems.
