The export of passenger cars from Turkey in January-September this year increased by 6 percent compared to the same period last year – up to 6 billion 796 million 60 thousand dollars. The agency “Anadolu” informs about it with reference to the data of the Union of Exporters of the Automotive Industry Uludag (OIB).
According to OIB, cars were delivered to 105 countries and free economic zones during the period under review.
Passenger cars accounted for 32 percent of Turkey’s total auto industry exports. The total sales of the sector for the specified period amounted to 21 billion 248 million 339 thousand dollars.
At the same time, the volume of exports of passenger cars in January-September 2020 amounted to 6 billion to 408 million 534 thousand dollars.
The EU countries remain the leading markets for the Turkish car industry. France, which is Turkey’s second largest market in the automotive sector, ranked first in the export of passenger cars.
Sales to this country in January-September this year increased by 16 percent compared to the same period last year – from 1 billion 13 million 783 thousand dollars to 1 billion 175 million 911 thousand dollars.
The share of export of passenger cars to France in the total export volume in this segment amounted to 17.3 percent.
Italy became the second leading importer of passenger cars from Turkey during the reporting period.
For nine months of this year, sales to this country increased by 20 percent compared to the same months in 2021 – up to 631 million 873 thousand dollars. Last year this figure was 527 million 115 thousand dollars.
Germany became the third leading importer of passenger cars from Turkey in January-September this year. The export of passenger cars to this country increased by 6 percent compared to the same period in 2020, from $ 592 million 487 thousand to $ 627 million 49 thousand.
The TOP-10 importers of passenger cars from Turkey included seven EU countries.
