The elected deputy and spokesman for Vox in Congress, Iván Espinosa de los Monteros, has decided to leave the leadership of Santiago Abascal’s party, as ‘El Mundo’ announced on Tuesday and sources from the formation have confirmed to Europa Press, in the who has been active since it was founded in 2013.
The spokesman for the Vox leadership, MEP Jorge Buxadé, has not denied it and has referred to the press conference that Espinosa has called at noon in Congress. “If Mr. Espinosa, my friend, colleague, has called a conference, we wait for what he says. I can’t tell him beyond that,” he replied in an interview on Cadena Cope, collected by Europa Press.
Espinosa de los Monteros is expected to make statements to the media in the Congress of Deputies starting at 12:00 noon.
Buxadé recalled that Espinosa de los Monteros, in addition to now being a deputy, spokesperson in Congress and a member of the Political Action Committee, was previously Secretary General of Vox.
“He is an extraordinary guy, a tireless worker, a great parliamentarian, a good person, who is part of the history, present and future of Vox, for sure,” Buxadé said.
In addition, he has praised his “intelligence, good sense, prudence, reaction capacity and sense of humor”, as well as his ‘face to face’ with the Minister of Economy, Nadia Calviño, during the last legislature.
