The President of the Republic of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan said regarding the relations with Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, “This process that we have started with the two countries, I believe, will make a very beneficial contribution, to both on the commercial level but above all on the level of political relations”.

Erdogan lent himself Thursday to an exchange at the people’s library with young students from all over Turkey on the occasion of the day of commemoration of Ataturk, Youth and Sports.

Asked by a young person about the situation of Turkey’s relations with Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, despite tense relations in recent years, Erdogan recalled that in relations between states, there are always ups and downs .

“This process that we have started with the two countries, I believe, will bring a very beneficial contribution, both commercially but above all in terms of political relations”, recalling his recent visits to the two countries in question.

Concerning the reception of Syrian refugees, subject of many controversies at the level of the country’s internal policy, the Turkish head of state recalled that at the time of the war in Iraq, Turkey opened its doors to nearly 500 thousand Iraqi refugees, and that in other parts of the world people are being forced to move because of the unrest at home, giving the example of the border between the United States and Mexico.

“So far we have made progress with these briquette houses, especially in northern Syria, and our goal is to accommodate 1 million refugees in these briquette houses. To do this of course, 100 thousand , maybe 200 thousand homes will be needed,” Erdogan insisted.
