Turkey occupies a leading position in the world in terms of the number of places in student dormitories. To date, the number of places in hostels on the balance of the state is 724 thousand, while private hostels are designed for 300 thousand places. That is, we are talking about the placement of more than a million students.
This was announced by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan at a meeting of the parliamentary faction of the ruling Justice and Development Party of Turkey on Wednesday in Ankara.
The Turkish leader drew parallels with European countries, noting that the UK dormitories are designed for only 550 thousand students, France – 365 thousand, Germany – 290 thousand, Spain – 91 thousand students.
The Turkish leader recalled that at the time the Justice and Development Party of Turkey came to power in 2002, the number of places in state student dormitories of the country did not exceed 180 thousand. “Dormitories are being built in our country today. We continue to invest in this area and in the coming years we plan to increase the number of places in state hostels by another 110 thousand people, ”President Erdogan said.
The head of state noted that steps are being taken not only to increase the number of hostels, but also in the context of improving the quality of services of this system. “The quality of services in hostels in Turkey is at the level of hotels. The dormitories of modern Turkey are the pride of our country, ”the President said.
