EPFO Simplifies Online Process for Member Profile Updation: There is good news for the Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) members. EPFO has simplified the process of updating member profiles to improve member services and ensure accuracy of member personal data. Under the revised process, members whose Universal Account Number (UAN) is already linked through Aadhaar can update their profile such as name, date of birth, gender, nationality, father-mother’s name, marital status, spouse’s name, You can update name, joining date and leaving date yourself without uploading any document. Although In some cases where the UAN number was issued before October 1, 2017, only verification from the employer will be required for updating.
The Labor Ministry said in a statement on Sunday that it is very important for the personal details of the EPF member to be correct and accurate in the EPFO database so that the services can be provided without any interruption and the risk of wrong or fraudulent payment from the fund is avoided. If a member needs to make any changes or corrections in his/her information, there was already a facility available under which they could make an online request by uploading the necessary documents. Such requests were approved online by the employer and then sent to EPFO for final approval.
EPFO has received a total of 8 lakh requests in the financial year 2024-25, out of which about 45% requests can be approved by the members themselves without the confirmation of the employer. This will eliminate the average delay of 28 days taken by the employer in approving Joint Declarations. Additionally, for EPF members who do not have full e-KYC, change or correction requests will be approved at the employer level in approximately 50% of the cases without EPFO approval.
This change will benefit approximately 3.9 lakh members whose requests are pending at various stages. If a member who can self approve has already submitted his request which is pending with the employer, the member can delete the already submitted request and self approve as per the simplified process. Most cases can be verified directly by the member himself and in some selected cases by the employer.
Currently, about 27 percent of the complaints filed by members are related to member profile or KYC (Know Your Customer). However, since the joint declaration The new facility of (Joint Declaration) has been introduced, after which the number of complaints filed by members is expected to reduce significantly.
This simplification in the online process will help in prompt disposal of members’ requests, thereby ensuring accuracy of data and reducing the risk of errors as well as ensuring better service delivery to members thereby helping in simplifying life. Also, the simplified process and avoidance of additional workload for the employer for verification of such details will significantly improve the ease of doing business.
