According to a Hockey India release, the England women’s team has had to cancel its trip to India for the ‘double-header’ FIH Pro League matches on April 2 and 3, as several members of the team tested positive for COVID-19. While some players are unavailable due to injury.
The women’s matches have been postponed but the men’s match between India and England will be played as scheduled later this week.
Hockey India President Gyanandro Ningombam said, “It is unfortunate that the England women’s hockey team had to cancel their India tour for the weekend matches in Bhubaneswar. We understand that these are challenging times for every team as we are all battling the pandemic. The Indian women’s team is currently ranked third in the league, winning three matches, drawing two and losing one.
