Electronic Arts has announced the achievement of an agreement for the acquisition of Tracab Technologies, a leading company in advanced optical tracking solutions and sports analysis. The integration of Tracab into the EA Sports family represents a significant step towards the creation of increasingly immersive and realistic sports experiences. The operation, which is expected to be completed in the first tax quarter of EA 2026, will allow to exploit the cutting -edge technology and the Tracab experience in the field of capture and analysis of data in real time.
The goal is to enhance realism, immersion and involvement in all EA Sports securities, thanks to the use of advanced artificial intelligence technologies, automatic learning and sports data in real time. These tools will be fundamental to develop increasingly realistic animations and faithful simulations to the real world. Cam Weber, president of EA Sports, underlines how the data are at the center of any significant progress in the world of sport today. The acquisition of Tracab will allow EA Sports to integrate first -rate acquisition and data technologies in their portfolio, accelerating the evolution of their experiences in increasingly realistic and engaging sports simulations.
The Tracab technology is able to trace practically any action on the field at 60Hz per second, generating 600 million data points per game, including 65 unique data points for each player and referee. It can capture skeletal data in real time from 21 joints, in addition to the center of mass and the tracing of the ball, and will open new frontiers in the realism of sports simulations. This ability will allow to further improve players’ statistics, their behaviors and the artificial intelligence of the teams, offering increasingly immersive experiences that reflect the fluidity and emotion of real competitions.
Tracab’s integration will not be limited to improving EA Sports games. In fact, the company plans to exploit the tracab volumetric data acquisition technologies, combined with EA Sports’ skills and gaming engine, to open new opportunities for fans: we speak of reinvented highlights, predictive simulations and even the possibility of Look at alternative on-demand broadcasts. The long -term goal is to make the EA Sports App the main interactive sports platform in the world, a project that the acquisition of Tracab will contribute to accelerating. Martin Brogren, Tracab Technologies GM, defined the entry into EA Sports as a new and exciting chapter for the company. The terms of the acquisition were not disclosed, but EA Sports has promised to reveal further details on Tracab and on specific product plans in the future.
