At least six people have been killed in clashes in Uttar Pradesh’s Lakhimpur Kheri district. The clash took place during UP Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya’s visit to Tikonia-Banbirpur. Four died at the scene and two were hospitalized. The farmers were killed when two SUVs rammed into them as they protested against Maurya’s visit. The farmers then blocked the vehicles and set both the vehicles on fire.

The Congress demanded a judicial inquiry into the incident and ensure punishment for the accused. Rahul Gandhi said that those who have not yet responded to the incident in Lakhimpurkheri are already dead and the sacrifices of the farmers will not be in vain.
