Square Enix has announced that Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake will be playable on Nintendo Switch at Lucca Comics & Games, from October 30th to November 3rd, at the Nintendo pavilion in Piazza Bernardini. Visitors will be able to preview the remake of the iconic RPG before the official launch, scheduled for November 14, 2024, and receive a commemorative postcard (while supplies last). The title, which inaugurates the “Erdrick Trilogy”, features HD-2D graphics, with 2D sprites and 3D environments. It also includes several improvements, including automatic saves, additional save points, customizable combat speed, auto-battle function and a modernized user interface.
It will be available from November 14th on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series Digital and physical pre-orders are already open. Dragon Quest III, originally released in Japan in 1988 for the NES, sold almost 1.2 million copies at home alone, becoming a true cultural phenomenon. The game is considered one of the most influential JRPGs ever, introducing innovative mechanics such as the interchangeable class system and the day-night cycle, later taken up by countless subsequent titles.
