Sheet The Korea Times On January 2, it was reported that the animal rights protection organization Care saved and cared for Pudding, a dog that lost his entire owner’s family in the Jeju Air plane crash on December 29, 2024 at Muan Airport, southern Korea.
Pudding lives with his host family in a village in Yeonggwang County, South Jeolla Province. In the plane crash, Pudding’s owner, a 79-year-old man, his wife and 7 other family members died. The whole family previously went to Bangkok (Thailand) to travel and left forever after the accident.
Villagers have discovered Pudding hanging around near the house as if looking for the owner’s family in recent days. The image of a dog waiting for its owner has moved the online community.
“We saw Pudding sitting quietly outside the village hall. When we approached, he ran over happily as if he was still waiting for his owner’s family,” Care said.
The organization said it would not be safe for the dog to live alone. After contacting the family’s relatives, the organization adopted Pudding until a suitable adopter was found. The dog was taken to a veterinary hospital in Seoul for a health check. “Even though Pudding was a little nervous during the ride, he seemed calm and well-behaved. We are checking his health because he vomited harmful foods like onions and chicken bones,” Care said.
Mysterious cause of Korean plane crash
Pudding’s owner was the oldest person to die in the plane crash. Jeju Air’s Boeing 737-800 had trouble landing at Muan Airport in South Jeolla and had to land on its belly. The plane hit a mound at the end of the runway and exploded, killing 179 people. Only 2 flight attendants sitting in the back survived.
