Raipur: A 35-year-old woman was hacked to death by a 40-year-old live-in partner in Chhattisgarh. The English news channel Times Now reports that a dispute over the care of their child led to the murder. That was exactly what happened on Friday. Defendant Rajendra Nirmalakar surrendered before the police after the murder.

The atrocity took place in Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh. Nirmalakar and the slain Purnima have been living together for the last two years. The couple, who were previously married, started living together after getting a divorce from their spouses. According to reports, there was a dispute between the two regarding looking after the child born to them.

Nirmalakar was upset with the way Purnima was looking at the child. He told the police that the girl was arguing even over small matters. He also said that Purnima used to abuse the child.

On the day of the incident, the two had been arguing for the same reason. In the ensuing rage, he slapped Purnima. The seriously injured woman succumbed to her injuries within seconds. After the murder, he placed the child next to the body and surrendered at the police station. Police said the suspect was arrested and the child was taken to a safe house.
