Digvijaya Singh says 2024 Lok Sabha Polls Public support for INDIA bloc similar to Janata Party wave of 1977 at Patna: Senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh on Monday claimed that the opposition alliance ‘Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance’ (INDIA) led by his party is getting the same support from the people as the Janata Party got in 1977. And she came to power. Talking to journalists at Sadakat Ashram, the state headquarters of Congress in Patna, Digvijay Singh claimed that there is huge public support in favor of ‘INDIA’ alliance and said that it is like the wave of Janata Party of 1977. He said that I am going to many parts of the country for election campaign. Yesterday I was in Uttar Pradesh where I participated in the rallies of our alliance partner Akhilesh Yadav. The crowd gathering in support of the ‘India’ alliance shows that this is the same wave that was in favor of the Janata Party in 1977.
Modi is violating the code of conduct: Digvijay Singh
The Congress leader said that the Election Commission should take cognizance of the alleged violation of the Model Code of Conduct in the speeches of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh claimed that Modi was violating the model code of conduct. A case can be registered against them under the Representation of the People Act and Section 153A of the Indian Penal Code. Digvijay Singh alleged that after a series of communal speeches, he said in a TV interview that he never does ‘Hindu-Muslim’. The very next day he (PM Modi) did the same again.

The former Chief Minister of MP said that the Election Commission should have taken cognizance of such violations of the Model Code of Conduct. I have also written to the Election Commission on this issue. Its failure to act raises serious doubts about its impartiality and ability to conduct elections in a free and fair manner. He alleged that the Prime Minister is proving himself to be a ‘factory of lies’ by claiming that the Congress is in favor of giving reservation on religious basis, “which is not possible as per the Constitution.”
Digvijay Singh also rejected the claim of Modi and other top BJP leaders that while in power, Congress was “scared of Pakistan’s nuclear power”.Singh said that Pakistan was divided into two parts during our (Congress) rule. We know about our strengths. It is Modi government which is afraid of China. Just see how the Chinese praised the Prime Minister when he was asked to clarify the situation on infiltration in the border areas.

Giving the example of the Right to Food Act, he also claimed that the Modi government is carrying forward the work done by the previous Congress-led government. However, citing the example of petrol prices, he blamed the government’s “faulty policies” for the inflation rate. He said that by amending the Central Excise Duty its price can be easily reduced by at least Rs 20 per liter.
The senior Congress leader also claimed that the Election Commission had a year ago refused to meet a delegation of opposition party leaders who wanted to raise certain issues and “the Modi government had refused to meet the Election Commission members.” It has made its intentions clear by rejecting the Supreme Court’s suggestion to include the Chief Justice of India in the panel.
