Launching the collection in celebration of the organization’s decade anniversary Vietnam International Fashion Week (AVIFW)also a milestone marking 10 years in the profession, Thao Nguyen put a lot of effort into 40 designs.
The first part of the collection is mainly gray and black outfits, symbolizing dark clouds on rainy days. The designer compares this image to the difficulties and challenges in life that every woman must go through.
In part two, Thao Nguyen paints a picture of bright colors through dresses with sweet pastel tones, symbolizing hope and a bright future, conveying the message “after the rain, the sky is bright again”.
Collection CloudThe designer and his team completed it in about two months, in which the most elaborate step was material handling and attachment. Thao Nguyen said she uses fabrics that have characterized her creativity in many past fashion seasons such as organza and tafta to create luxurious, sleek evening dresses.
Besides, the designer also combined a new material, organza silk, to create a softness like drifting clouds. This new material takes a lot of time to process in order to put it into flowing outfits but still has shape and is wrinkle-free, helping the wearer look more luxurious.
Besides the designer’s familiar shapes such as classic A-line flared dresses, strapless dresses…, the designer also innovates with fishtail dresses, bodycon dresses, cut out dresses…
1st runner-up Miss Grand Vietnam 2022 Che Nguyen Quynh Chau has been with the designer for many seasons, often taking on important positions in the designer’s shows. The beauty gracefully stepped onto the stage amid melodious music wearing a red dress that was “tailor-made” according to her body shape. The design uses tafta material with a body-hugging design, studded with sparkling stones and combined with a cape to create a powerful goddess-like look.
Recreating the image of sweet, romantic pink clouds, Miss Xuan Hanh wore an organza silk dress with many layers to create a flirty look. Along the body of the dress, the designer attached hundreds of field flowers in 3D embossed form, creating a falling petal effect. The costume took Thao Nguyen and her team more than a week to complete by hand.
Hand-sewn details create a unique highlight for each design
Miss H’Hen Niê has been Thao Nguyen’s familiar “muse” for nearly a decade, helping her most clearly convey the message of feminism, overcoming all difficulties and challenges like those rainy days to reach bright sunny days.
The dress of Miss Universe Vietnam 2017 was done over two weeks, using the technique of hand-applied thousands of stones to create new modular patterns on the fabric surface, interwoven with tiny rhinestones like tiny summer raindrops.
