Delhi: The capital wrapped in a blanket of smog, the condition worsened due to pollution, AQI reached serious category.
The condition of pollution is bad in the country’s capital Delhi and its adjoining districts. The air quality level in Delhi today i.e. Thursday is in ‘severe’ category. At 6 am on Thursday, pollution in 31 areas of Delhi reached severe category from very poor category. According to the Central Pollution Control Board, the Air Quality Index (AQI) crossed 500.

The air quality index (AQI) was recorded at a severe level of 432, which was 452 at 11 pm last night. Visibility at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport dropped to 500 meters by 6:30 am, down from 800 meters an hour earlier. Flights to and from Delhi are being affected due to low visibility. This may lead to possible delays or changes in schedules of flights. Apart from this, visibility has been badly affected in most areas and this has also affected traffic. The highest AQI of 567 was recorded in Jahangirpuri. Whereas, 465 AQI was recorded in Punjabi Bagh and 465 in Anand Vihar.
Besides, cold has also knocked in the capital. Due to mist and fog, there was zero visibility at IGI Airport at 8 am on Wednesday, while at some places the visibility was between 125 to 500 meters. In this regard, Delhi Airport has issued an advisory for passengers in view of the smog situation in Delhi.

In view of the increasing pollution, Environment Minister Gopal Rai will hold a review meeting with the concerned departmental officials at 11 am today in the Green War Room of Delhi Secretariat.
