He scored 53 runs against New Zealand in the final of the recently concluded T20 World Cup in UAE, while 49 runs came off the bat in the semi-final against Pakistan. Warner played an unbeaten 89 off 56 balls against the West Indies in the Super 12 stage. He was adjudged man of the match in this match.
