Increase in operational revenue
Avenue Supermarkets said in a statement to the stock exchange that the company had earned a net profit of Rs 658.71 crore in the April-June quarter a year ago. During the first quarter of the current financial year, the company’s operational revenue grew by 18.57 per cent to Rs 14,069.14 crore, while in the same quarter last year this figure was Rs 11,865.44 crore.
The total expenses of Avenue Supermarts also increased
Avenue Supermarts’ total expenses in the June quarter increased by 18.62 percent to Rs 13,056.61 crore. The company’s total income increased by 18.54 percent to Rs 14,110.74 crore. Regarding the results of the first quarter of the current financial year, Avenue Supermarts CEO and MD Neville Noronha said that the contribution from general merchandise and apparel continued to improve during the June quarter and this shows an increase in gross margin. During this period, D-Mart opened six new stores. With the addition of new stores, their total number increased to 371 by June 30, 2024. The CEO of Avenue Supermarts said that due to continuous efforts to improve service levels and increase capacity, the operating cost increased.
