Covid-19 / Turkey: 212 deaths in the last 24 hours

Turkey reported 212 deaths from Covid-19 on Saturday in the past 24 hours.

According to data published on the site “covid19.saglik.gov.tr”, the ministry also recorded 28,537 new contaminations.

Turkish health authorities have carried out 357,167 screening tests for Covid-19 throughout the country, while 25,611 new healings have been recorded.

The total number of anti-Covid vaccine doses administered nationwide now stands at 113,862,236.

Turkish Health Minister Fahrettin Koca said via Twitter that the number of infections among young people is on the rise.

The Turkish official stressed that the uptake of university students for the Covid-19 vaccination is low, contrary to expectations.

“Our young people must receive their vaccines without delay in order to ensure a healthy educational environment,” Koca continued.

He explained that society expects all its young people to join the fight against the virus, by getting vaccinated.

Until Saturday evening, the Covid-19 affected more than 241,071,578 people around the world, of which 4,908,051 died, while 218,296,434 recovered, according to the “Worldometers” platform, which specializes in monitoring the pandemic.
