Covid-19: rise in death toll in Latin America

Latin American countries continue to record new cases of contamination and death from Covid-19.

In the past 24 hours, the new coronavirus has killed 164 in Brazil, 154 in Mexico, 32 in Colombia, 20 in Argentina, 18 in Peru and 8 in Chile.

According to data from the Brazilian Ministry of Health, the country has recorded a total of 608,235 deaths. The number of cases recorded in the last 24 hours was 14,661, bringing the total to 21,835,785 cases.

Brazil is the second country in number of deaths after the United States.

Mexico registered 2,660 new cases, bringing the total to 3,814,453 cases. The country has also recorded 288,887 deaths.

Colombia has recorded a total of 5,007,099 cases, including 1,697 in the last 24 hours, in addition to 127,380 deaths in total.

Argentina has announced 116,029 deaths so far. The country has counted 1,264 cases in the past 24 hours, bringing the total to 5,292,549 cases.

In Peru, Covid-19 has claimed 200,326 deaths and 2,203,310 cases of infection, including 403 in the past 24 hours.

Chile has recorded a total of 37,790 deaths and 1,699,427 cases of infection, including 1,360 in the last 24 hours.
