Court scolds regarding pollution in Delhi-NCR, GRAP-4 restrictions will remain in force for now
The Supreme Court has once again adopted a strong stance regarding pollution in Delhi. The court has refused to relax the rules of GRAP-IV. The court said that relaxation will be given only when pollution reduces. The Supreme Court reprimanded and said that shocking information has come to light in the report of the court commissioners. The court said that there is a lack of coordination between government agencies and Delhi Police. At present, Grape-4 will continue in Delhi.
Currently, Grap-4 is imposed in Delhi and the court will hear the matter on December 5. The bench said- GRAP-IV restrictions will be relaxed only after seeing a decline in the Air Quality Index (AQI) level in the next three days.
The court asked the governments of Delhi, Rajasthan, Punjab and UP as to how much payment was made to how many construction workers after the implementation of GRAP-IV restrictions. He should be present in the hearing on 5th December. Actually, there is a ban on construction under GRAP-IV. The court had ordered the state governments to provide financial assistance to the workers who will face financial problems due to closure of work.
Delhi government said that it has ordered immediate payment of Rs 5,000 to 90,000 construction workers. There are a total of 13 lakh labourers, at present the problem is of verification.
The Supreme Court in clear words made the Commission aware of its responsibility. The court has imposed GRAP-IV restrictions from November 18. Earlier schools were also closed but after the instructions and relaxation of the Supreme Court, schools have reopened. However, construction work is still banned in Delhi-NCR. In between, the AQI had reduced due to a slight increase in the wind speed in Delhi, but the pollution level has increased again.
