In Ukraine, over the past day, 1,353 cases of infection with a new type of coronavirus (COVID-19) have been detected. This was reported on Saturday by the country’s Ministry of Health in its Telegram channel.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, 2,265,217 people have been infected in the country.
Over the past day, 21 Ukrainians have died from COVID-19 (total – 53,238).
The number of recovered patients diagnosed with COVID-19 increased by 791 per day (total – 2,196,589).
The coronavirus pandemic began with the detection of the first cases of pneumonia of unknown origin in the city of Wuhan in the Hubei province of central China at the end of December 2019.
On December 31, 2019, the Chinese authorities informed the World Health Organization (WHO) about the outbreak of unknown pneumonia.
On January 30, WHO recognized the outbreak of the novel coronavirus as a public health emergency of international concern.
On February 11, 2020, the disease was named the new coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
On March 11, 2020, WHO announced that the outbreak had become a pandemic.
