Coronavirus in Russia: the number of deaths approached 161 thousand


The number of cases of infection with a new type of coronavirus infection (COVID-19) in Russia per day increased by 22,010 to 6,334,195, the COVID-19 operational headquarters said on Tuesday.

The last anti-record for the daily increase in the incidence since the beginning of January was recorded on July 9 – 25,766 people.

Over the past day, 788 people have died due to coronavirus infection in the Russian Federation.

The total death toll in the country since the start of the pandemic has reached 160,925.

The anti-death record in Russia was recorded on July 16 – 799 deaths per day – and repeated on July 24 and 29.

5,659,746 people recovered from COVID-19 in Russia, including 18,963 in the last 24 hours.

In Moscow, over the past day, 1,952 new cases of infection have been identified. The number of deaths due to coronavirus in the capital increased by 71 per day.

Pandemic

The coronavirus pandemic began with the detection of the first cases of pneumonia of unknown origin in the city of Wuhan in the Hubei province of central China at the end of December 2019.
