Krishna Ella, Chairman and Managing Director of Bharat Biotech was also present during the meeting. Sudhakar in the meeting urged Mandaviya for the Centre’s support to upgrade 250 Primary Health Centers (PHCs) in Karnataka under the National Health Mission (NHM).
Talking to reporters after the meeting, Sudhakar said, I had a long discussion with the Union Minister regarding vaccination of children. He (Mandaviya) told that the government is in discussion with Zydus in the final round regarding its Covid-19 vaccine for children. He said that he is expecting a positive result soon. He said that the Union Minister also discussed the status of the nasal vaccine with the head of Bharat Biotech.
Sudhakar said that it was informed that the second trial of this vaccine has been completed and the third trial will end by the end of November-December. Ella said the company has the capacity to manufacture 200 million doses of the vaccine a month. Sudhakar said Mandaviya is scheduled to visit Karnataka on October 9-10 and is likely to participate in some programmes.
