Coach Shin was thoughtful when he arrived in Vietnam, rushing to prepare with Indonesia for the host match

On the afternoon of December 13, the Indonesian team was present at Noi Bai International Airport (Hanoi City). After landing, coach Shin Tae-yong and his team went through immigration procedures, picked up their luggage and then went straight to Viet Tri (Phu Tho province) to rest, in preparation for the competition with the Vietnamese team.

Coach Shin Tae-yong affirmed that the Indonesian team is undergoing a dense travel and competition schedule. The team from the land of thousands of islands must play against Myanmar in the opening match on December 9, then return to Manahan’s home field to meet Laos on December 12, and then leave for Vietnam the next day.

Although the flight distance was not long, the constant traveling affected the physical strength of Mr. Shin and his students. The Indonesian team quickly completed the procedures to move to Phu Tho. Today, the whole team only had one light practice session to recover their physical strength.

Tomorrow (December 14), Indonesia will get acquainted with Viet Tri Stadium to adapt to the turf, weather and playing space. Meanwhile, the Vietnamese team has been practicing at Viet Tri Stadium since the beginning of the tournament. Mr. Kim Sang-sik’s student also had 5 full days off after the opening match against Laos (due to not playing in the second match), thus accumulating a stable physical foundation.

After two matches, the Indonesian team leads the group with 4 points after 2 matches (difference +1), while the Vietnamese team ranks second with 3 points after 1 match (difference +3). Behind are Myanmar, Philippines and Laos, respectively, with the same 1 point.

The Vietnamese team will welcome Indonesia at 8:00 p.m. on December 15. Quang Hai and his teammates lost to Indonesia in all 3 recent encounters in the 2023 Asian Cup (0-1) and 2026 World Cup qualifiers (0-1, 0-3). However, at the AFF Cup, Vietnam was unbeaten against Indonesia in the last 4 matches (won 1, drew 3), scoring 4 goals and conceding 2 goals.
