Former player Kléber Gladiador, 40, will no longer act as a guest on the sports program Domingol com Benja, shown on Sunday afternoons on CNN Brasil. He acted as a regular guest alongside presenter Benjamin Back.
His dismissal comes after an employee at a gas station in São Paulo filed a police report for physical aggression.
The information was confirmed by the news channel F5 in note. “As a result of recent events involving former player Kléber Giacomazzi de Souza Freitas, known as Kléber Gladiador, CNN Brasil informs that the sports commentator will no longer participate as a guest in the weekly attraction ‘Domingol com Benja'”, said the channel.
On the 3rd of this month, Kléber was involved in a fight at a gas station on Avenida Brigadeiro Faria Lima, in Pinheiros, in the West Zone of the capital of São Paulo.
In security camera images shown by Record this Tuesday (12), the former player appears trying to enter a convenience store behind the person he was fighting with, but is stopped by a woman.
To force the situation and enter the place to continue the fight, Giacomazzi appears pushing the victim against a glass door.
She appears to be in pain and appears shaken immediately afterwards. Police officers who arrived at the scene to calm the situation advised the woman to undergo a forensic examination at the IML (Legal Medical Institute). She, however, only made a police report.
After the case was revealed, Kléber Gladiador posted on his Instagram a phrase attributed to Olavo de Carvalho (1947-2022), a philosopher considered an icon by supporters of former president Jair Bolsonaro. “Being hated by a crowd of idiots is the price you pay for being a man.”
The report contacted Kléber Gladiador, who sent the following note: “In view of the various articles published by different websites and news on television networks, unlike what was broadcast, on the last day 03/09 I was attacked by three people and I only defended myself from the attacks that suffered, whether physical and/or moral”.
“At no time did I attack any employee of the establishment, including in the videos broadcast, there was no aggression or attempt on my part. The facts were not as said or broadcast and I will prove it to the authorities, as soon as I was summoned to provide clarifications, I will present the my version of what really happened, I acted in self-defense and I have witnesses who corroborate my version of the facts.”, concluded the footballer.
