In the Panjshir province of northeastern Afghanistan, clashes continue for the second day between the Taliban and local resistance forces led by ethnic Tajik Ahmed Massoud.

This was announced on social networks by Fehim Deshti, spokesman for the Afghan Popular Resistance Front, the umbrella organization of armed groups in Panjshir.

More than 40 Taliban have been killed in the clashes, Deshti said.

“In clashes that last 2 nights, the enemy (Taliban) attacked from Baghlan province from three directions: through Sershed, Charkifelek and the Khavuk pass. However, they did not advance. Over 40 Taliban were killed and over 30 were wounded, ”he said.

Afghan media report the deaths of two Panjshir commanders.
