Sheet South China Morning Post On January 8, citing information from an obituary, Mr. Truong Dai Binh, president of an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) startup company and former deputy director of the UAV research institute at the National University of Technology, China National Chamber of Commerce (NUDT), recently passed away.
Accordingly, this leading expert on UAVs passed away on January 3 at the age of 47. The obituary did not mention the cause of death.
After earning his doctorate at NUDT in 2007, Mr. Truong continued to work as a lecturer and held many important positions, including deputy director of the school’s Unmanned Systems Research Institute.
For more than a decade, he has led or participated in more than 20 national, military and government research projects. His contributions earned him the first-class Military Science and Technology Progress Award, as well as the second-class Invention Award of Hunan Province.
In addition to his academic and research work, Mr. Zhang is also a member of the new UAV system expert group of the Army Equipment Department of the People’s Liberation Army of China (PLA).
He is also a researcher at the Institute of Microelectronics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and an outstanding expert at the Computer Research Institute of North China Industrial Corporation (Norinco).
In 2018, he turned to business, founding a technology company in Hunan province that develops and sells UAVs, with innovations including “robot snakes” and UAVs designed to fight high-rise fires.
In 2021, he and his team developed high-voltage direct drive technology, allowing UAVs to carry payloads of up to 500 kg, carrying equipment such as water cannons and hoses to altitudes of more than 100 meters. m to perform tasks such as window cleaning and firefighting.
