China’s ‘disciple’ Tedros Ghebreyesus to become WHO chief for the second time? Germany and France nominated

World Health Organization Director-General Tedros A. Ghebreyesus has been nominated for a second term. Tedros Gebreyesus of Ethiopia has been nominated by Germany and France. This is the first time that no candidate has been nominated by their own country for the top post of the UN health agency. Gebreyesus was also accused by the US of being close to China. This is the reason why the Trump administration broke ties with the WHO at that time.

New WHO chief will be elected in May 2022
Tedros has been in the news worldwide for the last 19 months for the efforts of the World Health Organization in combating the corona virus Pandemic. The next WHO Director-General will be elected at the next annual meeting of the Global Health Agency to be held in May 2022. The term of the Director General is five years. A diplomatic official in Geneva said 15 other EU members also supported Tedros’ nomination. The WHO said on its website that it does not plan to announce the full list of candidates until November. Some diplomatic officials said Tedros could not compete with anyone for the post.

Trump administration told China’s close
It is noteworthy that under the leadership of Tedros, the WHO had to face severe criticism from the Trump administration of America last year. In fact, the health agency was accused of exaggerating China’s initial efforts to deal with the Pandemic after the origin of Covid-19 in Wuhan. After which the angry US left the WHO.

Assessed Contribution
This fund is given by the member countries of the World Health Organization. It is already decided which country will give how much fund. This fund is determined by the data of the economy and population of that country. The World Health Organization receives most of its funding through assessed contributions. With this WHO funds its expenditure and program.

voluntary contribution
These funds are given for a certain program. The World Health Organization uses this fund only for those works in whose name this fund is found. For example, if the WHO has received funds from any organization or country to make a drug for the corona virus, then it can spend this fund only in making this vaccine.
