While it was stated that the construction project of the unmanned aerial vehicle produced for underwater targets dates back to the 1990s, the details of the vehicle’s features were shared in an academic article last week.
The South China Morning Post reported that the drone was tested in the dehumanized Taiwan Strait 10 years ago and has the capacity to “detect a watercraft, use artificial intelligence to identify its source, and hit it with a torpedo.”
It was noted that the project in question was financed by the People’s Liberation Army of China.
It was emphasized that it is not known why China has now announced the details of the test of the unmanned underwater vehicle, and it was stated that the recent tension with Taiwan may have been effective in this decision.
