Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Monday alleged that the Narendra Modi government was trying to protect the accused in the Lakhimpur Kheri violence. Rahul Gandhi demanded the sacking of Union Minister Ajay Mishra after the SIT filed the charge sheet. The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the Lakhimpur Kheri violence on Monday filed a charge sheet against 14 accused, including Ashish Mishra, son of Union Minister of State for Home Ajay Mishra. Eight people died in this violence.
Demanding the sacking of Minister of State for Home Ajay Mishra, Rahul Gandhi tweeted that the truth of the 5,000-page chargesheet has been seen by the whole country in the form of a video. Still, the Modi government is engaged in saving the accused. India is a witness.
Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi said false apologies and withdrawal of agriculture laws will not help cover up the anti-farmer mentality of the Modi government. He tweeted that he is in the position of the protector, but stands with the eater. In the chargesheet of the Lakhimpur Kheri massacre case, the son of the Union Minister of State for Home is the main accused in the incident of crushing of farmers.
Four farmers were allegedly crushed by an SUV on October 3 last year in Lakhimpur Kheri district, the native place of the Minister of State for Home. Four other people including a journalist and two BJP workers were also killed in this incident.
